Spring Fundraiser

Every year our school has their big school auction fundraiser. We have a chili dinner, a silent auction, and to the end the night there is a big live auction.

I was amazed last year at the amount of items people donated to this small community fundraiser. This year was no exception. The amount of community support for this school is phenomenal. Many businesses in the surrounding bigger towns also donated gift cards and products to this fundraiser.

At the beginning of February, we were asked to donate items for class baskets. The Girl’s basket theme was ‘Ice Cream Sundae Night’ and the Boy’s theme was ‘Family Game Night’. We had grabbed a few ice cream toppings for the Girl, and picked out a few card games to put with the Boy’s basket. We made sure to find these baskets and they both turned out really well.

When we found out the fundraiser was on a Friday night, instead of on a Saturday night I was unsure if I was going to be able to volunteer in the time slot our class was trying to fill. Luckily, my time off from work was approved and I was able to take the early shift of serving chili, which gave me the opportunity to meet some of the parents.

With the kids being in school all day and then running around all night at the fundraiser, they were super tired and we had to leave early. Plus the MC of the live auction was giving Hubby a headache. The Girl was being especially grumpy so it wasn’t a surprise when she fell asleep before we passed the city limit sign!

I’m very excited to see how much money the school raised!
